Freda is a seasoned gender and social protection specialist with 17 years of experience working in conflict areas amongst forced displaced communities, gender programming, policy implementation, and community development. She has led transformative initiatives focused on refugee inclusion, gender equality, women’s economic empowerment, and social safeguards at both district and national levels.
Previously, Freda served as a Gender-Based Violence & Violence Against Children (GBV & VAC) Officer under the Development Response to Displacement Impact Project (DRDIP)in Uganda and a project in the Horn of Africa at the Office of the Prime Minister under the Department of Refugees where she played a key role in ensuring social risk management and GBV-VAC mainstreaming in refugee-hosting communities for DRDIP project. She was also District Community Development Officer, Gender Development Officer and Probation and Welfare Officer.
Freda holds a Postgraduate Diploma in International Gender and Equality Studies from the United Nations University – Iceland, a Master’s in Development Studies from Uganda Martyrs University, and a Master’s in Public Health Leadership from Uganda Christian University, Post graduate Diploma in Project Planning and Management, Uganda Management Institute. Freda is a Certified Project Management Associate IPMA level D under the Project Management Association of Iceland-IPMA, she also possesses an International Certificate Course on Community Based Development from Tokyo International Centre. Certificate in Administrative Officers Law Course, Law Development Center, Kampala.
