Eng. Bernard Okuyo

Construction Engineer

Eng. Bernard Okuyo has more than 15 years of professional experience in project management, civil / structural construction engineering management, design and supervision spanning across buildings, wireless infrastructures in telecommunications industry in Uganda. He has acquired proficient skills in engineering works planning and programming, construction contract management, design management as well as procurement.

He has experience in all project phases such as feasibility studies, conceptual design, detailed engineering designs, preparation of specifications, project cost estimation, BoQ preparation, bid documentation and bid evaluation. In addition, he also performed economic and financial analyses as part of Cost Benefit Analysis for several wireless infrastructure projects including sensitivity and sustainability analyses. He is well conversant with the use of local content techniques as part of economic empowerment of the local communities in which the projects are located including environmental mitigation measures, health & workplace safety and other cross cutting issues like gender mainstreaming, HIV/AIDS and climate change and adaptation.

Academic History

He obtained the Bachelor of Science Degree Civil Engineering from Makerere University, graduating in September, 2007. In addition to that, He completed a certificate of management in practice, first aid training, humanitarian skills for engineers, Climate Change, Climate Risk Assessment and Climate Adaptation and ISO in-house training in Quality Management, Occupational Health & Safey and Environmental Management.

He has obtained skills and knowledge in the application of data science in big data analysis and business analytics, from University of Texas, Austin, completing in November, 2023. This helps him provide data driven decision making, and data driven solutions to project challenges and requirements.

Professional Membership

He is a registered engineer, with Engineers Registration Board of Uganda and a Corporate Member of Uganda Institution of Professional Engineers (M.UIPE), Member of American Society of Civil Engineers (M.ASCE) and Member of Project Management Institute (M.PMI), the global body for project management professionals.

Social Life

He is a member of West Nile Foundation, which provides financial support to private students for undergraduate degrees in various universities hailing from West Nile region through the West Nile Education Trust Fund.
