Minister Betty Amongi in Lira to sensitize Women on GROW

The vibrant city of Lira in the Lango sub-region was abuzz with entrepreneurial spirit as women entrepreneurs gathered for a highly anticipated sensitization workshop under the GROW Project. The event, aimed at empowering and educating women entrepreneurs in business, saw an impressive turnout, including esteemed women MPs from the Lango region and a special appearance by the Minister of Labor, Hon. Betty Amongi, who served as the guest of honor.

The GROW Project, a strategic initiative designed to economically empower women entrepreneurs, hosted this landmark workshop to provide vital resources, knowledge, and networking opportunities to female entrepreneurs. The event kicked off with a series of informative sessions and discussions led by experienced business professionals and government officials.

Hon. Betty Amongi, in her keynote address, emphasized the critical role of women in driving economic development. “Empowering women entrepreneurs is not just a matter of gender equality; it’s an economic imperative. Women are the backbone of our communities, and their success translates into stronger, more resilient economies,” she remarked. Hon. Amongi also highlighted the government’s commitment to supporting female entrepreneurs through various policy measures and financial assistance programs.

The workshop was graced by several notable women MPs from the Lango region, who shared their insights and experiences, inspiring the attendees with their stories of overcoming challenges and achieving success in their respective fields. Their presence underscored the importance of women in leadership roles and their potential to effect meaningful change.

A highlight of the event was the exhibition by the women entrepreneurs, which showcased a diverse array of products ranging from handmade crafts and clothing to organic foods and beauty products. The exhibition not only provided a platform for these enterprising women to display their talents but also facilitated valuable networking and market opportunities.

One of the exhibitors, Grace Aciro, who runs a small business producing organic skincare products, expressed her gratitude for the GROW Project. “This platform has given me the visibility and confidence I need to expand my business. It’s encouraging to see so many women like myself taking bold steps in entrepreneurship,” she said.

The workshop concluded with an open forum where attendees had the opportunity to ask questions, share feedback, and discuss future initiatives. The collaborative atmosphere and the wealth of shared knowledge left participants feeling inspired and equipped to take their businesses to new heights.

The success of the sensitization workshop in Lira is a testament to the positive impact of the GROW Project in empowering women entrepreneurs across the Lango sub-region and indeed Uganda. As the project continues to expand, it promises to unlock even more opportunities for women, fostering a more inclusive and prosperous economy.
