First Deputy Prime Minister Rebecca Kadaga Calls for Continued GROW Support

Jinja, Uganda – The GROW Project held an information-sharing exercise in Jinja, Eastern Uganda, on 30th August 2024 aimed at empowering women entrepreneurs with resources, and knowledge to strengthen their businesses and improve their livelihoods. The event, which attracted over 250 women leaders from across the Busoga sub region, was graced by the First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for East African Community Affairs Hon. Rebecca Kadaga, who served as the chief guest.
The GROW Project, an initiative by the Government of Uganda with funding from the World Bank designed to support women entrepreneurs is believed to promote economic development and financial independence for women in Uganda. The information-sharing event in Jinja provided a platform for the participants to exchange ideas and share knowledge.
In her keynote address, Hon. Rebecca Kadaga applauded the GROW Project for its commitment to empowering women, urging stakeholders to continue providing support to women entrepreneurs across the country.
“Women are the backbone of our communities. When we invest in their potential and provide them with the right opportunities, we drive not only their success but also the success of Uganda as a whole,” Kadaga remarked. “This program is a step towards sustainable development, and I encourage more women to embrace these opportunities.”
The First Deputy Prime Minister further reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting programs like GROW, which aim to bridge the gap in women’s participation in economic development.
As the GROW Project continues to expand across the country, it remains a beacon of hope for thousands of women looking to build resilient businesses and create sustainable livelihoods for themselves and their families.
